SCOTUS Upholds Obamacare

I am not going to respond to this today. I want to inwardly examine how I feel about this beyond my initial emotional impressions. This is a huge decision and I have to let it sit and stew for a while before I can chart a new course from this position. Responding today in distress or anger, would simply not be measured nor well thought. Now after explaining why I won’t blow a gasket today over this decision. What exactly was decided?

Four Justices firmly believed that the commerce clause gives the federal government to regulate your decision not to purchase something or not participate in commerce and in effect force you to do so. They are Kagan, Sotomayor, Ginsburg, and Breyer.
Four Justices firmly believed that the federal government had no such power, nor anything closely resembling that power. They are Kennedy, Thomas, Scalia, and Alito.
One Justice believed that the power to tax wielded by congress was so absolute, that they can in fact tax you for failing to do what congress wants you to do. That justice wrote the majority opinion of the court, that justice was Chief Justice John Roberts.

Forever after, whenever we are met with draconian federal taxes for failing to live our lives in the manner that the federal government thinks is proper, we can look back at this day as the day that made it possible.

Entitlement leads to dependance. Dependance leads to control. Control leads to bondage.
